For several seasons now, deep aubergine purple has been making its way into our wardrobes as well as onto our timepieces. This new Aubergine dial completes the Grand Prix Small Second collection through two editions: a limited run of 25 pieces featuring a silver sub-dial and matching leather strap, and a "full Purple" version. For the latest variation of its Grand Prix, named after the Grand Prix awarded in 1929 at the Barcelona International Exhibition, Vulcain has chosen the aubergine shade : a colour full of mystery, open to multiple interpretations. For some, it symbolises inspiration, magic or intrigue; for others, rarity and royalty.positioned between the blue associated with stability and peace, and the red symbolising passion.
Just a slender and refined as ever, the Grand Prix Small Second offers an even clearer read of the time. Powered by a Swiss made Landeron automatic movement and featuring both a domed crystal and domed dial inspired by vintage codes. The Grand Prix appeals to discerning watch enthusiasts. Its classic design and versatile character complement the male wardrobe with style.
Housed in a polished steel case, the Grand Prix Small Second boasts an aesthetic that is both balanced and sophisticated. Its dial, with a semi-sun ray, semi-gloss finish, is enhanced by steel numerals and indices. With a 3 9mm diameter and a thickness of 12.70 mm, it offers perfect balance, while the double-domed sapphire crystal with anti reflective coating ensures optimal legibility. The Grand Prix Small Second is powered by the Swiss Landeron 2456 automatic movement, ensuring great precision with 4 HZ and offering a 40-hour power reserve.
Founded by the Ditisheim brothers in 1858, the brand takes its name from the Roman god Vulcan, the god of fire and the forge. Established in the Neuchâtel mountains, then the cradle of Swiss precision, Vulcain quickly distinguished itself with horological masterpieces awarded at numerous international exhibitions. ln 1947, the third generation of the family introduced a world first with the now-famous Cricket caliber: a wristwatch with an alarm. The Vulcain Cricket soon became a highly fashionable abject and was worn by many American leaders, earning it the nickname "the Presidents' Watch." Since 2022, Guillaume Laidet, who has given new life to the brand now based in Le Locle, has been exploring the archives and reviving its legends.
